What you need to know about Differin Cream!Differin Cream

Differin is a well known medicine that is used for the treatment of acne. It can be found in two form, either as a cream or gel.

Things to consider before using Differin cream.

As there are risks associated with most forms of medication it is good to discuss with your doctor any of the following conditions that you may have.

- Allergies
- Pregnancy
- Nursing
- Currently using other medicines
- Other health problems

Allergies – Check to see if you have previously used medication containing adapalene and an allergic reaction occurred from using the drug. You will need to let your doctor know and also point out if you are allergic too anything else, no matter how minor it seems.

Pregnancy – There has been no ongoing investigation on the effects that differin cream can have on pregnant ladies, although it is thought that there can be a link with the cream and a fetus’s development. So take the advise and do not use differin cream in large quantities during your pregnancy. It would also pay to make your doctor aware if you are also trying to get pregnant.

Nursing – As differin cream can pass into the body in small amounts it is probably wisest to discontinue the use of the ointment whilst breastfeeding. You may wish to discuss this with you doctor first and then decide if the risks are low enough and the benefits with using the cream at this time are satisfactory.

Other medicines – It is important to know that some medicines cannot be used at the same time. By discussing this with you doctor and letting them know what medications you are currently taking a solution can be found that is best for you. This also includes other acne medications that you are using as the combination of differin cream and another acne treatment may cause far worst skin irritation.

Medical problems - If you have any other medical problems, in particular other skin conditions such as eczema, again the differin cream may not be suitable at this time and you will need to go on the advice of your doctor for other alternatives.

The current studies of differin cream have only been carried out with adults and it is recommended that children are not treated with the acne cream. If there is a need for using the cream on children under the age of 12, get a medical skin specialist permission first.

Studies of the use of differin cream on older adults have not been done, so we cannot know if there is going to be any side effects on older people, therefore proceed with caution.

It is very important that the medication is used as directed. If there is any doubt on something you are not sure of than get advice from you pharmacist or doctor. You should know that using differin cream on any cuts and cracked or burnt skin can cause unpredictable results.
