Steps In Treating Your Facial Skin
By Mike Foster • Jul 27th, 2010 • Category: Skin Care TipsMany people struggle on the right ways of facial skin care. It could be very confusing to what is right from wrong due to a wide range of facial skincare products in the market today. Should you are one of those who yearn for what is best in taking care of your skin, below are a few tips for you to have that younger looking skin.
In proper facial skincare, knowing your type of skin is the first thing to do. The reason for this is because skincare solely depends on the skin type you have. Skin is identified as oily, normal or combination, dry, sun-damaged and sensitive.
There are four basic steps in facial skin care. The first step is cleansing. It is important to look for a good cleanser that best suits your skin type. Remember, you must not use industrial bar soaps for your skin. That kind of soaps will make your skin dry. Avoid too much cleaning though. Washing your face at night is fine. In the morning, you want to use lukewarm water for your facial skin. Do not use cold and hot water for cleansing your face in order to keep your capillaries from breaking. The best way to wash your face and lose dirt as much as clogged pores is using warm water. Only use a pea-size of cleanser and then, wash with lukewarm or cool water. It is important to remove your makeup before going to bed using the right makeup remover.
The second step is to exfoliate. Many people forget to include exfoliation in the weekly facial skin care regimen. But the right exfoliation makes so much difference in the look of the skin. Shaving is one of the reason why men’s skin seems to be younger looking. Daily shaving helps in exfoliation. Chemical peels, retinoids and microdermabrasion are the different methods to exfoliate the skin. Scrubs help in removing the top layer of scalp but it may also make the skin dull. In order to keep your skin glowing, you should exfoliate once a week. It’s crucial that you only use gentle scrub that has tiny grains. Using cheap scrubs with big grains may tear and harm your skin.
Retinoid is one of the ways to eliminate dead skin cells and also create skin collagen. It’s the structural fiber of the skin and as one gets older, collagen breaks down and produces large pores together with fine lines. Retinoid is said to be magic skin saver. How about using toner? Some say that toners are necessary, some say otherwise. Toners help in eliminating make-up , dirt and oil. You can rely on good cleanser for this matter so it’s really up to you if you still want to use toners.
The following step is moisturizing. Moisturizing should be a part of every skin care regimen no matter what skin type you have. Even if you’ve an oily type of skin, moisturizer helps in sealing moisture into the skin.
The last step of the facial skincare is using sunscreen. Wrinkles are caused mainly by UV rays, and so applying sunscreen is necessary. Put on sunscreen whether it is summer or winter.
