In freezing conditions of the winter, the cold can cause your skin red itchy marks and dryness. Winter can even make nice moisturised skin dry and irritated. We have convinced ourselves with wearing layers of clothes we can protect our skin from cold conditions. That is not correct as we have to moisturise our skin in winter as well as other seasonal period to keep our skin moisturised and in good condition.

Here are some tips on how you can keep your skin healthy over winter period.

Drink plenty of water so that your body organs do not get dehydrated especially skin being the biggest organ of all. Drinking lots of water also keeps our skin moisturised from inside. When we work our body by going to the gym or playing sports we sweat and it is very important that we replenish the water we lose through our skin.

Before sleeping apply creams and lotions in your skin. We apply moisturising lotions before we go to work but sometimes we forget to apply it at nights before we sleep. Activities throughout the day reduce the moisture in the skin and this will continue if we do not moisturise our skin at nights. You will notice lack of moisturise when your feet starts getting dry and cracked.

Use humidifiers in your home, because the air in winter can be very dry. The heater is almost on all day long and it can cause drying effect on the skin and nasal passages hence you will see dry blood coming out of your nose every time you blow. To add bits of moisture to the air invest in humidifiers in Germany we call it luftbefeuchter.

Take showers with cool water. I know we all love having shower in hot water in winter but it normally dries our skin,, so it is wise to use warm water other than hot.
